Service on demand in Restaurant Espace Interview with Karin Beck, Head of Banquets & Catering, Restaurant Espace
SV Switzerland manages Restaurant Espace at Swiss Post’s headquarters. In April 2017, all SV Switzerland serving trolleys were equipped with smart buttons. In the spring of 2018, 18 larger meeting rooms were also equipped with button boards.
In April 2017, you introduced Service on demand. What do you think was the highlight?
The user reactions were extremely positive. By introducing the button boards in meeting rooms, we were able to create a real wow factor for our guests with the catering service. That made me particularly happy. The new service also enables us to position ourselves as an innovative company.
How has this new service changed your employees’ everyday lives?
If the button is pressed, we know immediately that the trolley is ready for collection. Used catering equipment therefore no longer gets in the way or leaves an impression of clutter. Unnecessary inspection rounds can also be eliminated. On the other hand, compliance with the service level for catering orders poses a certain challenge. Users expect the job to be done quickly. But this has always worked out well so far.
You have already expanded the service after one year. Do you see additional potential?
The button boards in meeting rooms enable us to generate additional income, which is very positive. For this reason, we are planning to expand the service to seven additional meeting rooms.
Implementation
- Smart buttons: collection of serving trolleys
